The Technology Behind Legalica
A purpose-built legal AI platform that combines multi-provider inference, jurisdictional intelligence, multi-language processing, and enterprise-grade infrastructure into a single, coherent architecture.
Key features

Sovereign Eight AI Cascade routes every query through four redundant LLM tiers — Google Vertex AI, Moonshot AI, Groq, and Ollama — with automatic failover and zero interruption.
Prismatic Resolution Chain resolves legal matters across 324 jurisdictions, while Mirror Language Protocol enables 187+ language interfaces without losing legal precision.

LexicalComposer-based legal editor, Firestore-backed version history, encrypted Cloud Storage, and direct integrations with GLEIF, OpenCorporates, and Google Workspace.
EU-resident Google Cloud infrastructure (europe-west3 Frankfurt), TLS 1.3 everywhere, AES-256 encryption, and Zero-Data Retention contracts with all AI providers.
Sovereign Eight AI Cascade
The Sovereign Eight AI Cascade is a proprietary multi-provider failover architecture designed for legal workloads where downtime is unacceptable. Every query is routed through four tiers of AI models; if a provider is unavailable, the system silently falls back to the next tier within milliseconds.
| Tier | Provider | Model | Role | Region |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 — Primary | Google Vertex AI | Gemini 2.0 Flash / Pro | Default routing, deep legal reasoning | EU (europe-west3) |
| 2 — Deep Analysis | Moonshot AI | Kimi k1.5 | Complex reasoning, long-context analysis | China (api.moonshot.ai) |
| 3 — Speed | Groq Cloud | Llama 3.3 70B | High-throughput, rapid document scanning | US (api.groq.com) |
| 4 — Fallback | Ollama | Qwen 2.5 14B / Qwen 3 Coder | Local execution, zero external dependency | Local / EU-US |
All tiers operate under Zero-Data Retention (ZDR) agreements. Queries are processed in transient memory and never used to train models. For Tier 2, data is anonymized before leaving the EU.
Prismatic Resolution Chain
Legal questions require correct jurisdictional grounding. The Prismatic Resolution Chain resolves the applicable legal framework through a four-level hierarchy:
- Exact Match — Loads the specific country or subdivision profile
- Subdivision Parent — For federal states, loads the parent country profile with local annotations
- Regional Proximity — Falls back to the nearest regional framework (OHADA, EAEU, EU directives)
- Global Standard — Applies universal doctrines such as UNIDROIT principles and the Vienna Convention
Once resolved, each jurisdiction activates a semantic Terminology Matrix that maps legal concepts to local terminology, ensuring that analysis, documents, and citations use the correct legal language.
Mirror Language Protocol
Legalica supports 187+ languages without sacrificing legal precision. The Mirror Language Protocol separates interface language from legal output language:
- Users can query Legalica AI in any supported language
- Responses are generated in the same language as the query
- Legal documents are drafted in the official language of the target jurisdiction
- Placeholder labels remain in the user's language for easy completion
Advanced trigram analysis (franc library + custom regex) distinguishes closely related languages such as Serbian vs. Croatian, Indonesian vs. Malay, and Hindi vs. Nepali.
Lexical Legal Editor
The Document Drafting Workspace is built on Meta's LexicalComposer, the same WYSIWYG engine used by Facebook and WhatsApp, adapted for legal documents. It enforces:
- Justified paragraphs and centered uppercase headings
- Structured subsections and professional lists
- Interactive yellow placeholders for variable fields
- Incremental AI editing with visual diff highlighting
- 20-version history with side-by-side comparison
Cognitive Jurisdictional Drafting Protocol (CJDP)
CJDP is the engine that makes Legalica's documents legally intelligent. It detects the document type, loads the correct jurisdiction profile, selects the appropriate formatting style, generates clean semantic HTML, and adds a strategic review block highlighting risks and clarifying questions.
Data & Integration Layer
| Component | Technology / Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Primary database | Cloud Firestore | User data, chat sessions, matters, tasks, documents metadata |
| File storage | Google Cloud Storage | Document drafts, attachments, exports |
| Authentication | Firebase Authentication | Secure auth with MFA and OAuth 2.0 |
| Serverless compute | Cloud Functions | Background jobs, API orchestration, webhooks |
| Corporate registry data | GLEIF, OpenCorporates | LEI validation, UBO tracing, company profiles |
| Productivity integration | Google Workspace APIs | Calendar, Tasks, Drive, Meet sync |
| Payments | Stripe | PCI-DSS compliant subscription billing |
Infrastructure & Security
Legalica runs on Google Cloud Platform with all structured data resident in the EU (europe-west3 Frankfurt). The platform uses:
- TLS 1.3 for all data in transit
- AES-256 encryption at rest with customer-managed keys
- Cloud Armor for DDoS protection
- Private registry tunneling to anonymize external searches
- Complete audit trails for compliance and forensic review
Dual Trigger System
Beyond answering questions, Legalica AI evaluates the maturity of each legal conversation. The Dual Trigger System flags missing material facts that would change the legal outcome and proposes actionable next steps — such as drafting a notice or preparing a compliance checklist — when a case is mature enough.
Open Standards & Interoperability
Legalica is designed to integrate with existing legal workflows. Documents can be imported and exported in DOCX, PDF, TXT, ODT, and Google Docs formats. Calendar and task data syncs bidirectionally with Google Workspace. KYC reports can be attached to matters and stored in Google Drive.
Continuous Improvement
The platform is continuously updated with new jurisdictions, legal domains, document templates, and AI models. All changes are tested for bias, accuracy, and security before deployment, with regular third-party audits and an active AI Ethics Committee overseeing responsible development.
Legalica provides legal technology tools and information, not legal advice. Always consult a qualified attorney licensed in the relevant jurisdiction before making legal decisions. Laws vary by jurisdiction and are subject to change. AI-generated content should be verified against primary sources.
